Junior School Co-Curricular

CHESS
A vibrant Chess Club meets weekly with girls from all year levels participating. Professional tutors teach the girls elements of the game and conduct mini tournaments, and each year Ormiston hosts an interschool competition for girls.
MUSIC
There are a range of Junior School music ensembles to join. Monthly Soirées held in our own Chapel and weekly mini-concerts during the Assembly provide perfect opportunities to develop performance confidence. All students take part in the annual Prep – Year Twelve Festival of Music.
ORMISTON ALIVE!
Ormiston Alive! Is an annual concert which provides an avenue for every Prep – Year Six girl to act, sing and dance in the School’s auditorium at Senior School.
OUTDOOR EDUCATION/CAMPS
Outdoor education and camps allow children to challenge themselves in supportive environments. Year 2 have a sleepover at school; Year 3 attend an outdoor education facility; Year 4 visit Sovereign Hill and experience school life on the diggings; Year 5 attend Western District Camp, with the aim of learning about land care; Year 6 vist Melbourne City, with the aim of consolidating their understanding of government.
SOCIAL JUSTICE
Each semester, selected Year Six girls are appointed to the role of Social Service Leaders. They work with elected members from each class to raise awareness and money for a variety of charities.
SPORT
Girls in Years Five and Six play a variety of team sports against other local girls’ schools. Selected girls may join the Swim Squad, and interested girls may join the School’s Snowsports Team.
TOUR GUIDES
Students are elected to become Tour Guides to show prospective families our School.
