Curriculum: Years 7 to 10

Camberwell is a learning community.  Our girls have a love of learning, a culture of wanting to achieve their best and a belief that they can achieve their goals. The curriculum is designed to ensure they have a broad base for life beyond school.
We aim to achieve academic excellence through innovative teaching practice, a strong work ethic and a positive environment.  Each student is encouraged to develop deep understanding of her own thinking and learning patterns. We want our girls to be adaptable, open to change, socially and environmentally responsible and globally aware.
Camberwell’s outstanding academic record has been sustained over many years. Our staff maintain the highest standards of professionalism and have established a supportive but challenging learning environment. They are experts in teaching and learning and skilled in helping each girl to achieve her best.
A broad curriculum based on academic disciplines is designed to build depth of understanding and delay narrowing of options for as long as possible.  Thinking skills are integrated into learning activities and a rich variety of core subjects from Years 7 to 10 cater for a range of student needs and talents.  The Year 9 program has a focus on teamwork, leadership and relationship building.  There are two camps and the girls begin the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Additionally, academic areas are connected by a variety of integrated learning experiences that develop problem solving skills and initiative.
Electives are introduced in Year 9 and the range is expanded in Year 10.  These options allow students to explore areas of interest and make wise decisions when selecting VCE subjects.
